Topped with cheese, bacon, shredded cabbage, mayo, ketchup and mustard, these Dominican Style Hot Dogs are perfect for a Memorial Day cookout or any grilling occasion.
I am extremely excited because it really is looking like winter is finally over and we are finally getting the sun and warm weather I have been wishing for since 2018 started.
The snow and cold weather stuck around for quite a bit but it’s now gone and it doesn’t look like it’s coming back anytime soon. YAY!
Spring came in a bit late, but finally, the birds are singing and the flowers are growing. Memorial Day is very near now, which means cookout season is approaching. My favorite time of the year!
Not many things make me as excited as warm, sunny days make do. It’s just something that really makes my Caribbean soul happy, as it does eating the foods I grew up eating back in the Dominican Republic like these delicious hot dogs.
Dominicans really go all out when it comes to their food, especially street food. Hot dogs are a very popular street food in the Dominican Republic with street vendors selling hot dogs in practically every area of the country.
Dominican hot dogs are usually loaded with ingredients. Some add cooked ground beef, some don’t. But there are a few toppings/ingredients that are always generously added to the Dominican Hot Dog: cabbage, cheese, ketchup, mayo, and mustard.
Naturally, I am already preparing for my summer cookouts. So, I’ve made a quick visit to my local Walmart to buy all of my cookout essentials. Of course, I had to pick up my favorite Kraft Products (Heinz Yellow Mustard, Tomato Ketchup, and Mayo made with Cage Free Eggs), Oscar Mayer Beef Franks and bacon because I like to be ready for when it’s time to pull out the grill and enjoy a nice afternoon out in the yard.
I do my weekly grocery shopping at Walmart. So, buying these “cookout essentials,” plus more, is something I do often. Ha! But it doesn’t hurt to make sure I always have them on hand because we do cook out a lot as soon as the temperatures get warm.
Did you know that Walmart offers grocery pickup? Isn’t that awesome?! Think of all the time you would save. Easily order all of these items for your summer grill out using Walmart Online Grocery Pickup, or simply pick up in store at a Walmart near you.
