A sweet and spicy cocktail made with vegetable juice, mango tequila, Tajin, hot sauce and beer. This Spicy Mango Michelada is the perfect poolside drink this summer!
I love summer parties. Cookouts, picnics, pool parties, outdoor celebrations and summer holidays are kind of my thing. It is one of the main reasons I love summer so much. Summer weekends are not meant to be spent inside. Am I right?
I’m sure we can all agree that the best part of summer parties is the food. The trick to having great cookout food is using the best condiments for your burgers, kebabs, grilled meats and sandwiches. One of my favorite condiments is Frank’s RedHot Sauce in all flavors.

Almost every Friday afternoon, I make it a priority to spend time at the pool and since my best friends works half day on Fridays, she usually comes spend the afternoon with us because she just loves being outside. I enjoy having her over because it gives me an excuse to try out a new cocktail, which I tend to make whenever she is over. This past Friday, I took a shot at making a Michelada.
Michelada is a Mexican drink made with beer, lime juice and a combination of sauces and spices.
Some weeks ago, I was talking with a few co-workers and was telling them how I had never tried a Michelada before. They could not believe my words and proceeded to urge me to try one. So, it is in their honor that I decided to make this Spicy Mango Michelada and I waited until my friend came over for one of our pool days so that she could be my taster for the day.
To make this delicious drink, I used mango and vegetable juice, lime juice, Tajin, mango tequila and of course hot sauce. Frank’s RedHot Original is the most versatile sauce that can be used for a wide variety of dish types.
My friend is not very tolerant of spicy flavors, so I had to be careful not to overwhelm her with too much heat. That is one of the reasons I really like Frank’s RedHot Sauce. It is a condiment that enhances food, not overpowers it with fire. It has the perfect blend of flavor and heat.
Naturally, I Put That $#!+ On Everything! But, for my friend’s sake, I added just enough to the drink to feel the heat without feeling like your mouth is burning.
Needless to say, this Spicy Mango Michelada was a hit! I have made it a few times since then and everyone who has tried it loves it!
Make it by the pitcher for larger parties.
Spicy Mango Michelada
- 2 cups mango vegetable juice cocktail (chilled)
- ¼ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 ounces mango tequila or vodka
- 2 tablespoons Frank’s RedHot Sauce
- ½ teaspoon Tajin , plus extra for the rim of the cups
- 1 beer (chilled)
- ½ cup of fresh mango , cubed, for garnish
- Lime slices , for garnish
- In a small pitcher, combine mango vegetable juice, lime juice, tequila, hot sauce and Tajin. Stir to combine.
- In a small dish set about 2 additional tablespoons of Tajin. Rim 2 large glasses with lime juice and dip into the Tajin.
- Thread 1 lime slice and about 4 chunks of fresh mango into an extra long toothpick. Sprinkle with Tajin.
- Add ice to the glasses and pour about 1 cup of the mango vegetable juice mixture into each glass. Top off with cold beer.
- Garnish with lime and mango toothpick.
