This beautiful and flavorful strawberry salsa recipe has the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Perfect as a snack or party appetizer.
I have been obsessed with strawberries for a while but even more so after visiting a strawberry farm in California last month thanks to our friends over at the California Strawberry Commission. You can learn a little more about my visit to the farm by checking out this post on Instagram. I learned so much about strawberries during that visit and tried the juiciest, sweetest strawberries I’ve ever had.
According to research, there are positive associations between strawberry consumption and disease prevention, from cardiovascular and metabolic health to weight management, cancer prevention, and even inflammation. 🤯
Also, did you know that you are not supposed to wash the strawberries before putting them in the fridge? If you want your strawberries to last longer, simply refrigerate the strawberries as soon as possible in the original clamshell container or layer in a container lined with a paper towel. Rinse strawberries under cool running water right before eating or preparing. They also taste best when served at room temperature, so maybe take them out of the fridge about an hour before eating.
Since that trip, I have been getting way more strawberries than I know what to do with. But somehow, they all end up being eaten anyway. This past weekend I ended with four full clamshells of strawberries right before a family cookout and decided to make this strawberry salsa to share with everyone.
This strawberry salsa recipe is so flavorful. It has just the right combination of sweet and spicy that pairs perfectly with grilled fish, shrimp, chicken and even with simple tortilla chips. It’s also a beautiful plate to serve as a party appetizer.
How to Make Strawberry Salsa
Making this salsa is so easy. Simply dice strawberries, onion, and jalapeño into small cubes and place in a large bowl. Add chopped fresh cilantro, lime juice (freshly squeezed is best), and salt and pepper to taste. Stir everything together to combine and that’s it!
So easy and delicious you’d want to make it over and over again!
Serve this salsa with corn chips or pita chips to have as a snack or appetizer. You can also serve it as a topping for grilled fish, shrimp, and chicken.
How long does strawberry salsa last
This salsa is best served fresh immediate after you make it. You can also store it in a sealed air-tight container and place in the fridge for a few days. But I do not recommend storing it much longer.
